About Amougies
Amougies
Amougies (Dutch: Amengijs) is a village in the Belgian province of Hainaut and part of Mont-de-l’Enclus. Amougies has an area of 4.73 km² and has over 1000 inhabitants.
History
Until the language border was established in 1963, Amougies belonged to the province of East Flanders. With the municipal mergers of 1977, it became part of Mont-de-l’Enclus.
Events
From 24 to 28 October 1969, the big music festival of Amougies was organized in Amengijs. The festival attracted 80,000 visitors and featured several big names such as Pink Floyd and Frank Zappa.
The second edition of the W Festival took place in Amougies from 18 to 20 August 2017. About 15,000 music lovers attended.
